KAPA

Precise thickness measurement device for films and sheets

KAPA features a dual sensor system for non-contact measuring of films and sheets up to 6 mm thick – with extreme accuracy.

KAPA is a non–nuclear technology that does not require licensing or protection guards.

Applications

Plastic films with precise thickness

Kapa controls thickness in films and sheets extrusion applications with narrow thickness tolerances –  for high quality production where every batch needs to be perfect.

Applications Include: Extruded Mono and Multilayer Plastic Film and Sheet, Thermoforming Sheet (PP, PE, PET, PS, ABS, PVC etc) , Land Fill Liners etc…

Two thickness ranges are available:

  • Kapa I – for sheets up to 3 mm thickness.
  • Kapa II – for sheets up to 6 mm thickness.

Measuring Principle

Capacitive / Eddy current

KAPA uses a non-contact, indirect measuring method with a dual sensor configuration and a measuring roller. This extremely robust sensor combination in one housing features capacitive and eddy current sensors.

First, the capacitance between sensor and measuring roller is measured. This is automatically corrected by the distance measurement of the eddy current sensor. From this, the thickness is calculated in comparison with a calibrated value.
