Shadow is a readily used direct measuring system for webs up to 3,5 mm
Shadow works on the principle of laser occlusion over a measuring roller. It is a direct measuring system, and it is, therefore, independent of the properties of the film.
Shadow is a non–nuclear technology that does not require licensing or protection guards.
Shadow is insensitive to material properties, transparency, colour and opacity. Shadow can measure total thickness of single, multilayer and embossed materials.
Shadow are available in widths of 500 mm to 8 meter
≤ 3 μm
Ultra-precise thickness measuring with an accuracy of ≤ 3 µm
≤ 3.5 mm
Shadow is suitable for the material thickness of up to 3.5 mm
Measuring Principle
Laser Shading / Eddy current
The sensor head contains 2 sensors: a laser shading sensor and an eddy current sensor. The shading sensor sends laser beams over the measuring roller and the film to be measured. A receiver (line scan camera) detects the shading by the film and by the roller. The eddy current sensor permanently measures the distance of the sensor head to the measuring roller. The result of both measurements gives directly the thickness of the film.
Calibration
No calibration is necessary. The measurement is independent of film properties.
